Worcester County Government offices closed July 4

Worcester County Government (WCG) offices, including all five Branch Libraries, Recreation and Parks, the Central Landfill, and Homeowner Convenience Centers, will be closed Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

All WCG offices will resume standard hours of operation on Wednesday, July 5.

Take the Summer Fire Safety Survey for a Chance to Win a Free Family Pizza Party

Snow Hill, Maryland (June 12, 2023) – The Worcester County Fire Safety Survey is on now through July 1, and all who take the survey will automatically be entered for a chance to win a free family pizza party. This gooey, cheesy, crusty main course will be delivered by a massive, red, fire truck.

Working smoke alarms are at the heart of fire safety. These simple devices save lives by serving as early warning systems. During a fire, signal blasts from working smoke alarms provide valuable time for families to evacuate safely.

Commissioners Welcome New Human Resources Deputy Director

                                                                                                    

Snow Hill, Maryland (June 12, 2023) – The Worcester County Commissioners named Patricia Walls as the deputy director of Human Resources. She stepped into her new position on March 1, 2023.

Worcester County Offices Closing for Juneteenth on Monday, June 19

Worcester County Government (WCG) offices, including all five Branch Libraries and Recreation and Parks, will be closed Monday, June 19, 2023, for Juneteenth, National Freedom Day.

The Central Landfill and Homeowner Convenience Centers will also be closed.

WCG offices will resume standard operating hours on Tuesday, June 20.

Worcester County Seeking Nominations for Volunteer Spirit Awards

Snow Hill, Maryland (June 7, 2023) – To honor volunteers whose contributions help improve the quality of life locally, Worcester County residents are invited to nominate individuals, organizations, and businesses for the Volunteer Spirit of Worcester County awards. The nomination period is open June 7 – August 25 at 4:30 p.m.

Sewer System Smoke Testing Takes Place June 13-16 from Maid at Arms Lane to Man O War Lane in Glen Riddle.

                                                                                                    

Worcester County Public Works Water and Wastewater (WWW) Division will conduct smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system from June 13-16, 2023 between Maid at Arms Lane and Man O War Lane.

Operation Rebuild info sessions June 1 and 5 from 5-7 p.m.

If you own and reside in a single-family home in Worcester County and need assistance to improve your property, stop by the Operation Rebuild info session on June 1 at the Pocomoke Branch Library or June 5 at the Berlin Branch Library. Meet Housing Rehabilitation Program Coordinator Davida Washington, and learn how Operation Rebuild may be able to assist property owners obtain grants and/or  low interest loans-rates  based on income to rebuild homes beyond repair.
