Registration Open and Volunteer Coaches Needed for Worcester County Recreation & Parks Youth Soccer and Flag Football Leagues

Worcester County Recreation and Parks officials invite area youth to get up, get out, and get active this spring with outdoor soccer and flag football leagues.

The soccer session will run from March 26 through June 11, 2023 on Sundays at John Walter Smith Park in Snow Hill. Players will practice basic soccer skills and compete against teams from other local towns. Open to youth ages 3 to grade 8, participants will be split into competing age divisions (ages 3-4, grades k-1, grades 2-4, and grades 5-8).

Worcester County Recreation & Parks to Host Shamrock Slam Pickleball Tournament

Join Worcester County Recreation and Parks for the two-day Shamrock Slam Pickleball Tournament at the Worcester County Recreation Center in Snow Hill from March 18-19, 2023.

Saturday will be men’s and women’s doubles, and Sunday will be mixed doubles. Doors will open and check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. Gameplay will start at 8:00 a.m. The tournament is open to ages 18 and older. The cost per person is $40, which includes a t-shirt. The price per event is $15.

Worcester County to Host Public Hearing April 6 on Land Preservation, Parks, and Recreation Plan

Snow Hill, Maryland – the Worcester County Planning Commission will host a public hearing on the draft Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan (LPPRP) April 6, 2023 at 1:05 p.m. The hearing will take place in the Board Room on the first floor of the Worcester County Government Center in Snow Hill. 

Public Works to Conduct Sewer System Smoke Testing March 1-10 in West Ocean City

Worcester County Public Works Water and Wastewater (WWW) Division will conduct smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system from March 1-10, 2023 between Center Drive and Golf Course Road.

This study will involve opening and entering manholes in the streets and public utility easements to locate breaks and defects in the sewer system. The smoke will also reveal where storm and other surface water enters the sewer system. 

Worcester County Library - New Hours Effective March 6

All branches of the Worcester County Library will open at 9 am (Monday - Saturday) effective Monday, March 6.  Closing times vary by location.  For a complete list of branches and library hours, please visit WorcesterLibrary.org/branches.

WCG offices closed Presidents Day, Feb. 20; Landfill and Homeowners Convenience Centers will be open

Worcester County Government offices, including all five Branch Libraries, and Recreation and Parks, will be closed Monday, February 20, 2023, in observance of Presidents Day. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday, February 21.

The Central Landfill and Homeowner Convenience Centers will be open during standard hours of operation.

 

Worcester County Recreation Center Closed Monday Following Water Main Break


Snow Hill, Maryland (February 13, 2023) - Due to a water main break in Snow Hill, the Worcester County Recreation Center (WCRC) closed today, Feb. 13, at 1:00 p.m.

Line dancing, yoga, and drop in soccer programs are cancelled for this evening.

The afterschool program will take place as scheduled at an alternate venue, and all parents and guardians have been contacted about program changes.

The WCRC will reopen to the public Feb. 14.

 

Snow Hill Home Owner Convenience Center Reopens Following Renovations

February 6, 2023, the Snow Hill Home Owner Convenience Center (HOCC) reopened to the public. This facility was closed for 90 days for repairs. The newly renovated center includes new concrete bulkheads and a new ramp for ease of access.
