Indoor Walking Schedule Adjusted During Recreation Center Improvements

Snow Hill, MD – The indoor track and batting cage at the Worcester County Recreation Center will be unavailable to walkers from Tuesday, September 8, through approximately mid- to late October while Worcester County Recreation and Parks (WCRP) completes an HVAC replacement project. 

During construction, walkers may use the area inside the dasher boards during standard operating hours when programs are not scheduled:

Worcester County Offices Closed Labor Day, September 7

Worcester County Government (WCG) offices, including the Worcester County Recreation Center and the five branch libraries, will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, for the Labor Day holiday. 

The Central Landfill and Homeowner Convenience Centers will also be closed.

WCG offices will resume standard operating hours on Tuesday, September 8. WCG staff wish one and all a happy and safe holiday weekend.

Your Voice Can Help Protect Worcester County: Residents Invited to September Hazard Mitigation Planning Meetings

Snow Hill, MD – Worcester County Department of Emergency Services (DES) officials are encouraging residents to participate in two upcoming public meetings, as part of the County’s ongoing effort to update its Hazard Mitigation Plan, and are asking residents to take an active role in the process. 

Community participation is essential to ensure the plan reflects the concerns, experiences, and priorities of the people who live and work in Worcester County. DES hosted two public meetings in August and will host two additional meetings in September:

A portion of Timmonstown Road in Berlin will be closed August 19 beginning at 7 a.m., while crews replace a failed crossroad pipe. The work should be completed that same day. Detour signs will be posted to help guide motorists around the closure.

Public Invited to Help Launch Maryland’s Coast Shellfish Brand August 20

Worcester County Tourism and Economic Development (WCTED) invites the public to join them Thursday, August 20, at 10 a.m. at Baywater Landing, located at 3908 Bayside Road in Snow Hill, to launch Maryland’s Coast Shellfish, a new regional brand celebrating locally grown oysters, clams, and bay scallops, along with the people who produce them.

Traffic Alert: Hickory Point Road Closure Wednesday, August 5

Hickory Point Road will be closed Wednesday, August 5, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. while County Roads Division crews replace a failed crossroad pipe in the roadway. In the event of a weather delay, the alternate date will be Thursday, August 6.
