May 7-8 Public Works Parking Lot to be Closed for Repaving

The parking lot serving the Public Works Administration building at 6113 Timmons Road in Snow Hill will be repaved Thursday-Friday, May 7-8, weather permitting. During this time, the office will be closed to the public for safety reasons.

Staff will remain available by phone and email, and appointments can be arranged at an alternate location by calling 410-632-5623.

Normal operations will resume Monday, May 11, at 7:30 a.m.

Worcester County, MD — The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office, in coordination with Worcester County Environmental Programs (WCEP), is advising residents and visitors to exercise heightened caution with any outdoor burning due to continued dry conditions across the region.

Recent weather patterns have resulted in lower-than-normal rainfall, contributing to decreased soil moisture and a declining water table. These conditions significantly increase the risk of rapid fire spread, particularly involving brush, grass, and other combustible materials.

Following interior renovations, the updated space provides a more efficient, comfortable, and accessible environment for residents utilizing Treasurer’s Office and Health Department services. These improvements enhance the County’s ability to serve the public.

Beginning today, both offices have resumed regular satellite services at this location, Monday through Friday:

Worcester County Government offices, including all five Branch Libraries, will be closed Friday, April 3, 2026 for Good Friday. Normal business hours will resume Monday, April 6.

Recreation and Parks will be closed Friday through Sunday, April 3-5, and will resume standard hours of operation on April 6.

Snow Hill, Maryland – the public is invited to attend a hearing on proposed water and wastewater rate changes for fiscal year 2027. The hearing will take place May 5, 2026 at 6 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room in the Worcester County Government Center in Snow Hill.

Rate increases are proposed in 10 of the County’s 11 water and wastewater sanitary service areas (SSAs). No changes are proposed for the West Ocean City SSA.

Traffic Alert: Golf Course Road (south side of US Rt. 50) – partial closure – April 15

Wednesday, April 15, a portion of Golf Course Road near the Old Bridge Road intersection will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., while County Roads Division crews replace a failed crossroad pipe. 

Detour signs will be in place on MD Rt. 611 and U.S. Rt. 50 to help guide motorists around the closure.
 

Snow Hill, Maryland – Worcester County Government’s Isle of Wight Offices, at the intersection of MD Rt. 90 and St. Martins Neck Road, will reopen Monday, April 20, 2026. To mark the occasion, the Worcester County Commissioners and Health Department officials will host a ribbon cutting ceremony that morning at 10 a.m.

The Treasurer’s Office and Health Department will resume satellite services at this location Monday through Friday. Operating hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Treasurer’s Office; and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the Health Department.

Starting April 1, Berlin Homeowner Convenience Center Will No Longer Accept Yard Waste

Beginning April 1, 2026, the Berlin Homeowner Convenience Center (HOCC) will no longer accept yard waste.

Following a series of February snowstorms, the Berlin HOCC temporarily accepted yard waste to assist residents with cleanup efforts.

After April 1, yard waste will only be accepted at the following Solid Waste locations:

Traffic Alert: Holly Grove Road Closure Wednesday, March 25

Holly Grove Road from Samuel Bowen Boulevard to Sinepuxent Road will be closed this Wednesday, March 25, while County Roads Division crews work to clear trees and debris from the shoulder of the roadway that fell during the recent snowstorm.

“Closing the roadway will allow us to work much more efficiently and safely,” Roads Superintendent Kevin Lynch said. “We anticipate only needing to close it for one day.”
