New Walking Trail at John Walter Smith Park

Worcester County, MD — The Worcester County Commissioners and Worcester County Recreation & Parks invite residents to join them for the official dedication of the new walking trail at John Walter Smith Park, located at 6040 Public Landing Road in Snow Hill, on Tuesday, June 16, at 1 p.m.

The new trail is approximately 1.2 miles in length and follows the perimeter of the park, providing visitors with a scenic route for walking, jogging, and other recreational activities. Constructed using permeable materials and finished with a stone dust surface, the trail was designed to support a variety of users while promoting environmental sustainability.

Six benches made from recycled materials have been strategically placed along the route to provide convenient rest areas and opportunities to enjoy the park's natural surroundings.

"This trail represents an investment in recreation, wellness, and quality of life for Worcester County residents," Recreation & Parks Director Kelly Rados said. "We are grateful to the many partners who helped make this project possible and look forward to celebrating this new amenity with the community."

The trail project was funded through the Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Greenspace Equity Program and Program Open Space, with additional support from the Worcester County Commissioners. Engineering services were provided by J. Stacey Hart & Associates, Inc., and construction was completed by Marshalls Professional Property Management LLC. Worcester County extends its appreciation to these partners for helping bring this new recreational amenity to the community.
