Due to flooding, these county roads are closed: Porters Crossing; Train Station: Sand Rd/Creek Rd/Redhouse Road intersection, Creek Road (Scotty Road – Sand Road); Redhouse Road (Pennewell Road – Sand Road), and Sand Road (Millville Road – Redhouse Road).

Forecasts for Worcester from now to around midnight call for periods of continued moderate to heavy rainfall. This could result in additional ponding on roads, ditches, and other low-lying areas.

Avoid traveling on roadways with standing water.

A section of Cedar Hall Wharf Road will be closed on Wednesday, 2/29/24 to replace a failed crossroad pipe. The Roads Division is anticipating the road being closed for one day while work is performed. Please call the Road’s Division at 410-632-2244 with any questions.

Snow Hill, Maryland (February 21, 2023) – During a virtual meeting with the commissioners and Board of Education leaders, State Accountability and Implementation Board (AIB) members outlined local responsibilities for implementing Maryland’s Blueprint for Education (Blueprint) in Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS). BOE funding transparency and collaboration between the BOE and county government is essential to chart a path forward according to the AIB members. 

The February 22, 2024 Special Session of the Worcester County Commissioners with the Interagency Committee on School Construction (IAC) and the Board of Education to discuss school construction has been cancelled at the request of the state due to extenuating circumstances. The meeting will be rescheduled in the near future.

Shavox Road will be closed for the day on February 21st 2024 between Tull Road and Blueberry Road. See map for exact location.

There are 2 upcoming projects which will impact roads around the Bishopville area.

Ebenezer Road will be closed Wednesday, February 7, 2024 after 8 A.M. between Murray Road and Route 610 to replace a damaged cross pipe.

This roadway will be closed for one day, while the County crews replace the pipeline. Residents may use Murray Road as the detour route. Please view the attached map.

Two crossroad pipes on Buck Harbor Road in Pocomoke will be replaced on February 5, 2024.

Starting Monday morning, February 5th work will be done on the first pipe. 

The road will be open to traffic that afternoon.

The road will close again on Tuesday morning, February 6 while the second pipe is replaced. The road will be open the afternoon of February 6th.

Snow Hill, Maryland – contractors, entrepreneurs, and commercial entities interested in doing business with local government agencies are invited to participate in the Reverse Trade Show at Wor-Wic Community College from 1-4 p.m. on March 6, 2024.

“There is no fee to attend, and no registration required,” Worcester County Procurement Officer Nick Rice said. “Reverse Trade Show will take place in Guerrieri Technology Center lobby on the Wor-Wic campus. You’re Invited, and we hope to see you there.”

Worcester County Public Works Water and Wastewater (WWW) Division will conduct smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system from January 29 – February 2, 2024 in Ocean Pines on Hingham Lane, Links Lane, Greens Court, Bunker Court, and Dog Leg Court.

This study will involve opening and entering manholes in the streets and public utility easements to locate breaks and defects in the sewer system. The smoke will also reveal where storm and other surface water enters the sewer system.
