Snow Hill transfer station closed
Out of an abundance of caution, the homeowner convenience center in Snow Hill closed at 1 p.m. today, Saturday, May 18, 2024, and will remain closed while local officials work with Tyson to resolve a fire contained inside a silo on the adjacent Tyson Plant property.
The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office and Department of Emergency Services are closely monitoring efforts by Tyson officials in Snow Hill to mitigate a fire contained within a grain solo at their Snow Hill plant. Emergency personnel from the FMO and DES will remain in constant contact with these local partners and remain onsite as efforts to extinguish the fire get underway this weekend.
Greenbackville Road will be closed Monday, May 13, while crews replace a failed crossroad pipe. Repairs should be completed that same day. Residents can use Rabbit Knaw Road as a detour route. For more information, please contact the Roads Division at 410-632-2244.

Snow Hill, Maryland – The Worcester County Commissioners invite the public to attend a hearing on the requested FY25 County Operating Budget and the proposed real property tax rate of $0.845 per $100 of assessment. Motorists Should Expect Traffic Delays During Work Hours
The county boat ramp and parking lot at South Point, located off MD Rt. 611 in Berlin, are now open to the public.
The boat ramp was closed for roughly two months, while Worcester County Recreation and Parks contractors replaced the bulkheads at that location. A project to overlay the parking lot is tentatively planned for summer 2024.
Funding for these projects has been provided through Waterway Improvement Grants from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Worcester County.
