Public Invited to Hearing May 7 on Requested FY25 Worcester County Operating Budget

Snow Hill, Maryland – The Worcester County Commissioners invite the public to attend a hearing on the requested FY25 County Operating Budget and the proposed real property tax rate of $0.845 per $100 of assessment. The hearing will take place at the Worcester County Government Center in Snow Hill on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 6 p.m. The meeting will also be streamed live at https://worcestercountymd.swagit.com/live.

Worcester County Seeking Nominations for Volunteer Spirit Awards

 

Snow Hill, Maryland (April 18, 2024) – To honor volunteers whose contributions help improve the quality of life locally, Worcester County residents are invited to nominate individuals, organizations, and businesses for the Volunteer Spirit of Worcester County awards. The nomination period is open April 1 – May 31, 2024 at 4:30 p.m.

South Point boat ramp and parking lot reopen to the public

The county boat ramp and parking lot at South Point, located off MD Rt. 611 in Berlin, are now open to the public.

The boat ramp was closed for roughly two months, while Worcester County Recreation and Parks contractors replaced the bulkheads at that location. A project to overlay the parking lot is tentatively planned for summer 2024.

Funding for these projects has been provided through Waterway Improvement Grants from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Worcester County.

Matt Owens Appointed to Lead Worcester County Emergency Services and Fire Marshal’s Office

Snow Hill, Maryland (April 4, 2024) – The Worcester County Commissioners appointed Fire Marshal Matt Owens to lead Worcester County Emergency Services (WCES) and the Fire Marshal’s Office. Owens has been leading the Fire Marshal’s Office since 2022 and stepped into his expanded role March 19.

Worcester County Government offices and all Branch Libraries Closed Friday, March 29th for Good Friday

Worcester County Government offices, including all five Branch Libraries, will be closed Friday, March 29, 2024 for Good Friday. Normal business hours will resume Monday, April 1.

The Central Landfill and Homeowner Convenience Centers (HOCCs) will be closed Friday, March 29, and open during standard hours of operation Saturday, March 30.

The Central Landfill and HOCCs will also be closed Sunday, March 31, for Easter and will resume standard operating hours on April 1.
